A fun and informative meeting was held at Bagby Beer Co. on Sept. 23, 2019.

• Guest speaker, Brian Leslie, Coastal Scientist at GHD Consulting, gave a presentation covering various options to restore our beaches. Brian recently completed the restoration of the Cardiff Living Shoreline, which includes sand dunes and native vegetation with an underground rock quarry to protect PCH from coastal flooding. This is project is being studied and considered for other coastal locations.

• Board Member, Bob Aston gave a short lesson on Beach Basics 101.

• Co-Director Nick Ricci recapped our introduction at the regional SANDAG Shoreline Working Group Meeting, meeting officials from all the coastal cities and scientists from Scripps.

Oceanside to vote on sand retention.

After months of meeting with City officials, we have learned that the Oceanside City Council will consider an agenda item to restore our beaches!!

Save the date: October 9th, 5pm. Oceanside City Council will discuss sand retention options.

The goal is to amend the Capital Improvement Budget to include funds for design, environmental review, and permitting of a beach sand retention project.

Community support of our mission is essential.

SOS members are encouraged to show up and support this vote as an important first step to Save Oceanside Sand!!!

October 9th: Oceanside City County Meeting @6pm

October 13: SOS October Meeting & Party @12-4 pm, Buccaneer Beach Park.

•Please join us for our first beach party at Buccaneer Beach park under the cabanas, The fun will start around noon with corn hole and bocce ball contest on the grass. SOS will provide beverages, plates & utensils. We just ask that you bring an appetizer or dish to share.

•Around 2pm we will have an informative meeting to inform and educate with a guest speaker and presentation followed by a Q&A.
