Local Coastal Program Update

The City has received initial comment from the California Coastal Commission (CCC) on the Draft Coastal Hazards Adaptation Plan (Draft AP), which outlines a range of strategies for reducing the risk of beach erosion, property damage, safety hazards, and other adverse impacts of storm and tidal events. The City anticipates receiving CCC comment on another component of the Local Coastal Program Update – the Draft Land Use Plan (Draft LUP) – in early July. The Draft LUP contains goals and policies that provide direction on coastal access, coastal resource management, infrastructure, shoreline protection, and new development. Once the Draft AP and Draft LUP have been revised to address CCC comment, both documents will be made available for public review. Interested parties are encouraged to visit the project webpage.
