Midletone Very Rare Scotch
Produced by Jameson’s Master Distiller, Barry Crockett, Midleton’s Very Rare famous blend of whiskies is, you guessed it, very rare and highly collectible. Based in Midleton County Cork, Ireland, the distillery has been described as “the engine that drove the growth of Irish whiskey.” It is here where Midleton Very Rare whiskey, aged solely in Bourbon casks, has unveiled an annual release from 1984 to 2012. This bottle from 2002 is a smooth and complex tasting whiskey, and comes with a certificate of authenticity and a signature from producer Barry Crockett. Due to the “rarity” of the releases and a healthy market for Irish whiskey Midleton Very Rare appreciates every year at between about 5-10% per annum. Currently valued around 700 USD, these bottles have been sold at action for well over that price.

Handmade with Love:
These beautifully handmade bird houses are designed and created by local craftsman Mike Vander Pol. At 84 years young, Mr. Vander Pol enjoys putting the wood working skills he learned when he was just 16 years old to good use. After immigrating to the US at 15, he and his family settled in Grand Rapids, Michigan, where he quickly went to work for Smith Brothers, making sewing machine cabinets and bumper pool tables. After years of mentorship, he found himself crafting custom made items for his own family to enjoy. Each house is uniquely inspired and carefully constructed as a labor of love. They are all made of real wood and are suitable for both inside and outside areas. While these are impossible to put a price on, Mr. Vander Pol says he “hopes they find a good home” as he’s spent many weeks and hours perfecting each one. Any bird is sure to feel like a king in his own castle.
