CHICO, Calif. – The Cal State San Marcos men’s basketball team earned four All-CCAA selections as Greg Milton III was CSUSM’s lone first-team honoree while Quinn Denker, Jayce McCain and Joel Mensah earned second-team honors, the conference announced on Wednesday.
Milton led CSUSM and ranked fourth in the CCAA with 17.6 points per game while averaging 34.5 minutes per game. His 48.3 field-goal percentage ranked sixth in the conference. At 807 career points, Milton ranks fourth in program history while his 474 points scored this season currently rank ninth. This is his first first-team honor and second All-CCAA selection as he was named to the second team in 2021-22.
Denker was CSUSM’s second-leading scorer at 12.5 points per game while leading the Cougars with a 92.2 free throw percentage. The San Jose native was third on the team with 3.5 rebounds and 2.7 assists per game. Spending his freshman season at West Valley College, this is his first All-CCAA honor.
McCain led the team and ranked second in the CCAA with a 2.76 assist/turnover ratio while ranking fourth with 3.9 assists per game. The Sacramento native also tallied the seventh-most steals per game in the conference at 1.48. McCain has played the most games (80) and made the most starts (71) of any Cougar in program history and is just five steals away from tying the program record of 147. This is McCain second All-CCAA honor as he was named to the first team in 2021-22.
Mensah led Cougars with a 56.0 field-goal percentage and ranked third in the CCAA. He also led CSUSM with 7.7 rebounds per game, ranking fourth in the conference. The Ghana native ranked third in the league with 5.70 rebounds per game. At 209 total rebounds for the season, Mensah’s total currently ranks seventh in program history while his 154 defensive rebounds ranks fifth. This is his first All-CCAA honor.
This is CSUSM’s second consecutive season with four All-CCAA selections and the fourth time overall.
CSUSM earned the No. 2 seed and a bye into the semifinals of the CCAA Tournament being played at Stanislaus State. The Cougars will face the winner of No. 3-seed San Francisco State and No. 6-seed Chico State on Friday at noon in Turlock at Ed & Bertha Fitzpatrick Arena.
