SAN MARCOS, Calif. – After going 1-1 last week, the Cal State San Marcos men’s basketball team came in at No. 19 in both the NABC Top 25 Coaches Poll and the D2SIDA Top 25 National Media Poll on Tuesday.
Last week, CSUSM earned a 66-52 victory against Stanislaus State on Thursday before closing its home schedule with a tight 63-57 loss in a rematch against No. 11/10 Chico State on Saturday.
The Cougars have remained ranked in the D2SIDA Top 25 since Nov. 30 and in the NABC Top 25 since Dec. 7. In this week’s D2SIDA West Region Poll, CSUSM was voted third for the third consecutive week.
CSUSM will close out the regular season this week by traveling to Sonoma State for a 7:30 p.m. game on Thursday before ending at Cal Poly Humboldt on Saturday at 7:30 p.m.
The Cougars have already clinched a spot in the CCAA Tournament set to take place at Humboldt’s Lumberjack Arena in Arcata on March 3-5. This will be CSUSM’s first appearance in the postseason since the 2017-18 season, and it will its second time competing in the CCAA Tournament since moving to NCAA Division II in 2015-16.
