Minor Injury Hit and Run

On the morning of August 2nd, Sheriff’s Deputies and the Vista Fire Department responded to a traffic collision involving an Infinity sedan which crashed into a bus stop near the intersection of North Santa Fe Avenue and Civic Center Drive in the city of Vista.

The sedan, being driven by a 63-year-old male, jumped the curb in the parking lot near the Wells Fargo bank. The vehicle went down a small embankment and struck the bus stop causing minor injuries to a 66-year-old male. Deputies arrived on scene and were unable to locate the driver who had fled on foot. A short time later, the driver, J Reyes Lozano Cortes, was located and placed under arrest for Felony Hit and Run. The victim was transported to a nearby hospital to be evaluated. No other injuries were reported.

Cortes was later booked into the Vista Detention Facility for Felony Hit and Run. At this time, it is not believed that alcohol and/or drugs were a factor in the collision.

The Vista Traffic Division is handling the investigation.
