Vista, CA – The City Council of the City of Vista voted unanimously at its meeting on November 27, 2018 to name the stage of the Moonlight Amphitheatre in honor of Moonlight’s Founder and Artistic Director Emeritus Kathy Brombacher.
Kathy M. Brombacher founded Moonlight Amphitheatre and served as Producing Artistic Director for 33 years before retiring in 2012. During Mrs. Brombacher’s tenure, the City of Vista’s cultural arts department grew from a summer theatre festival with only two shows in the summer, to a 4-show season of summer musicals and 3-show winter season of productions at the Avo Playhouse. She produced over 200 productions and events and was instrumental in the planning and the reconstruction of the playhouse in 2009. Kathy Brombacher’s vision, hard work, and dedication has impacted over one million patrons of the Moonlight Amphitheatre, as well as thousands of artists who have worked onstage or behind the scenes at the Moonlight.
Staff recommends naming the stage at the Moonlight Amphitheatre “THE KATHY BROMBACHER STAGE.” Naming would include the installation of a plaque at the center of the stage. Mrs. Brombacher has made a significant positive impact to the quality of life for the citizens of Vista, specifically through her dedication to the Moonlight Amphitheatre, the Avo Playhouse, and the cultural arts programming offered at these venues. . A outdoor wall plaque will be generously funded by the Moonlight Cultural Foundation. We want to share a video that can speak to the impact Mrs. Brombacher has had on our community.
