VISTA, CA (July 23, 2025) – Moonlight Stage Productions’ fourth summer production is the beloved classic, Fiddler on the Roof.
Set in the little village of Anatevka, the story of Fiddler on the Roof centers on Tevye, a poor milkman, and his five daughters. With the help of a colorful and tight-knit Jewish community, Tevye tries to protect his daughters and instill them with traditional Jewish values. Winner of nine Tony Awards when it debuted in 1964, Fiddler on the Roof is the brainchild of Broadway legends, Jerome Robbins and Harold Prince; songwriters, Jerry Bock and Sheldon Harnick; and bookwriter, Joseph Stein. The show includes iconic and beloved songs such as “Sunrise, Sunset,” “If I Were a Rich Man” and “Matchmaker, Matchmaker.” Touching audiences worldwide with its humor, warmth and honesty, this universal show is a staple of the musical theatre canon.
“We are thrilled to bring Fiddler back to Vista. It’s a timeless tale of family and belonging that has resonated with audiences for decades and feels particularly relevant in our cultural moment. I’m honored to be directing this production and to be working with Lee Martino as choreographer, and Elan McMahan as Musical Director. The company is in rehearsals right now and it’s been incredible to see this story come to life through our new and returning cast members.”
-Steve Glaudini, Director & Moonlight Stage Productions Producing Artistic Director
Elan McMahan returns to the show after music directing The Moonlight’s 2012 production. Previous attendees will also recognize Ralph Johnson in this production, this time playing the Rabbi instead of Avram.
