The City of Carlsbad’s Cultural Arts Office is pleased to announce Front Row Fridays, a new monthly series that features performances by top talent from the San Diego region and beyond. The performances will take place on the second Friday of the month, October 2018 through June 2019, in the Schulman Auditorium, located in the Carlsbad City Library complex at 1775 Dove Lane. Admission is free.
Cultural Arts Manager Richard Schultz commented,
“During the Arts & Culture Master Plan process, we learned that our community enjoys diverse arts experiences and were interested in more opportunities to interact with a wide range of artists.”
At a Glance
Front Row Fridays offers experiences in a variety of performing arts genres, with artists offering insight into their world during the event.
Performances begin at 7 p.m. Seating is first come, first served.

San Diego Ballet: Season Preview
San Diego Ballet presents a sneak preview of their upcoming 2018-19 season. This dynamic season features ballet in many forms, including a world premiere production of Jungle Book with a thrilling blend of ballet, jazz, hip hop and giant puppets, Ritmos Latino featuring San Diego’s hottest jazz musicians, and poetry in motion with Romance: En Pointe, with excerpts from Romeo and Juliet, Giselle and more.

In the Moment with Missy Andersen
Missy Andersen and her accompanist/husband, Heine Andersen, love what they do. Keeping a heavy touring schedule, the tenacious twosome perform as a duo which showcases the couple’s individual and combined talents. In the absence of other instruments, listeners find a greater appreciation for Missy’s gospel-tinged vocals and Heine’s blues and Americana inspired guitar work.

The Nutcracker and Beyond: Piano Duo
You haven’t heard The Nutcracker quite like this – with four hands on one piano. Featuring pianists Anna Grigorian and Natasha Gubenko, experience the season with the award-winning Grigorian Gubenko Piano Duo, performing exciting selections by Debussy, Dvořák and Tchaikovsky.
