Park improvements are now complete at Aviara Community Park. The new area is located on a 1-acre site of the park and the new improvements are ideally positioned to take advantage of the outstanding views of the surrounding habitat preserve.

The entrance into the gathering area features a 2,000-square foot shaded picnic pavilion with an outdoor fireplace and a facility flanked by trees and additional shaded and unshaded picnic areas.

The new amenities also include a large grassy area for gathering and playing, a new stage with a shade structure, individual and group picnic areas, and a community facility that contains restrooms, storage and a dedicated room that caterers can use as a prep space. This new outdoor community gathering area will be ideal for hosting weddings, birthdays, small concerts, company or family picnics, and other similar gatherings.

The park’s sustainable landscaping design features include drought-tolerant plantings irrigated with recycled water; porous concrete paving to manage storm water by preventing runoff and pollution; and energy-efficient features such as a two-port electric vehicle charging station, solar tubes for natural lighting, and LED lighting fixtures.

Public Art
Following a national call for artists, bronze sculptor Michael McLaughlin was selected to develop designs for the art work at Aviara Community Park. The artwork, called Myriad and Manzanita and California Quail and Cone consists of two bronze sculptures, approximately 5 feet in height. These whimsical works of art are located to the left and right of the stage area and are prominently placed to be enjoyed by all, during the day and the night, while visiting this park for years to come. Construction of this final phase of improvements for Aviara Community Park began in early August 2018. The improvements were identified in the master plan update for this park, based on community input and a comprehensive needs assessment.
