CARLSBAD, Calif. (October 2026) — Carlsbad High School students are training and competing on a new track and artificial turf field this fall, following a summer renovation funded by Measure HH, the facilities bond approved by Carlsbad voters in 2018.

The $1,655,631 project removed and replaced the existing rubber track surface, the jumps area, and the artificial turf field. Construction began in June 2026 and finished in August 2026, in time for the first home football game of the season.

The district also invested additional funding to mark the relay exchange zones in a separate color around the track, setting them apart for runners, coaches, and officials during competition.

“The new track and field are fantastic, and they perform as well as they look,”

said CUSD Superintendent Dr. Norman. “Most importantly, this is a facility for all of our students. Whether they are in a PE class, practicing, competing in a meet, or cheering from the stands on a Friday night, every Carlsbad High student will benefit from it for years to come. We are grateful to Carlsbad voters, and to the project team that delivered this work over a single summer so our student-athletes could start the season on their home field.”

Ruhnau Clarke Architects designed the project, and FieldTurf served as the contractor
