CHICO, Calif. – The Cal State San Marcos women’s golf team dominated the All-CCAA honors, announced Tuesday by the league office. Breann Horn nabbed CCAA Golfer of the Year, Diana Delgado was selected CCAA Newcomer of the Year and Makenna Cabardo was named CCAA Freshman of the Year. Head Coach Greg Hutton received his third consecutive CCAA Coach of the Year honor.

Joining Horn, Delgado and Cabardo on the 10-person All-CCAA first team was Madison Murr.

Horn, who is ranked No. 4 in NCAA Division II according to Golfstat.com, has a team-best 74.76 stroke average. She has finished in the top 10 in eight tournaments with two wins this academic year including a victory at the Visit Stockton Invitational where the NCAA Super West Regionals will be held. Earlier in the season, Horn collected individual medalist honors with two other golfers at the RJGA Shootout at Estrella. She accumulated a conference-best four CCAA Golfer of the Week honors this season.

Delgado placed in the top five four times this season, including a victory at CSUSM’s Fujikura Invitational with a 1-under 143. A two-time recipient of the CCAA Golfer of the Week honor, Delgado began her redshirt freshman season with a second-place finish at the Point Loma Sea Lion Invitational with a 3-over 147. Delgado ranks No. 37 in the latest Golfstat.com rankings.

Cabardo was the 2022 CCAA Tournament runner-up with a 6-over 222 after carding a collegiate-best 4-under 68 in the final round. She posted five top-10 finishes this season, including two fifth-place ties. Cabardo is currently ranked No. 54 among NCAA Division II golfers according to Golfstat.com.

Murr snagged a share of third-place honors after carding a 12-over 228, tying her career-best finish this season. She began her collegiate career with a season-best 3-under 69 in the second round of the PLNU Sea Lion Invitational. Murr finished the season with five top-10 finishes.

Hutton became CSUSM’s first three-time CCAA Coach of the Year honoree in school history. The Cougars defended their league crown for the third time by 18 strokes, carding a 909 in the three-day, 54-hole event.

With Horn’s four CCAA Golfer of the Week honors and Delgado picking up the honor two other weeks, CSUSM golfers have earned the award a conference-high 25 times in 47 occurrences.

In the four years of the CCAA sponsoring women’s golf, a CSUSM golfer has been named Golfer of the Year each time with Jaime Jacob taking the first three seasons and Horn earning this year’s honor. The Cougars won five tournaments this season, including the 2022 CCAA Women’s Golf Championship for a third time.

CSUSM is ranked No. 9 in the Women’s Golf Coaches Association (WGCA) national poll and No. 8 in the Golfstat.com national poll.

The Cougars, who earned the automatic West Regional bid and are ranked No. 3 in the latest NCAA West Regional poll, are waiting for the announcement of the West Region field which will be posted on NCAA.com on April 25 by a press release.

This is the fourth consecutive season that CSUSM has placed at least four players on the All-CCAA first team.
