CARLSBAD, Calif. – On August 12, at 3:59 p.m., the City of Carlsbad Police Department received a call about a possible shooting that occurred in the 2700 block of Via Juanita. It was further reported that witnesses heard a popping sound and found one male in the alley with what appeared to be a gunshot wound.
On arrival, officers found an 18-year-old male who reported he had been shot following a meeting with another male. The suspect then fled the area in a vehicle. The Fire Department transported the victim to an area hospital with nonlife threatening injuries.
Officers searched the area, interviewed numerous witnesses, collected evidence and are actively working to locate the suspect.
The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
