North Coast Church Remodels Local Homeless Shelter Operation HOPE-North County Ribbon Cutting Event

Vista, CA – Friday, June 16, 2023. Operation HOPE-North County (Homeless Shelter), a non-profit organization that serves families with children and single women who are experiencing homelessness, is hosting a Ribbon Cutting Event on Friday, June 16, 2023 at 10 a.m. at Operation HOPE-North County, 859 E. Vista Way, Vista Ca, 92084. After relocating from its previous location of 10 years (2003-2013) on West Orange Street in Vista, Operation HOPE-North County opened its doors to its 12-bedroom and 45-bed shelter in 2013 on E. Vista Way.

In 2023, Operation HOPE-North County was selected as North Coast Church featured non-profit for this year’s Serve Your City project. North Coast Church volunteers and staff remodeled and furnished the kitchen area, community room, youth room, bedrooms, case management offices, shelter office, and hallway of the shelter. North Coast Church also did extensive landscaping projects on the exterior and interior of the shelter. The North Coast Church Serve Your City project at Operation HOPE-North County accumulated in over 5 weeks of work, over 150 volunteers, and valued over $200,000.

The Ribbon Cutting Event will acknowledge North Coast Church service to the community and celebrate the remodeled shelter with community partners, community leaders, and community members.

Operation HOPE-North County was founded in 2003 in response to a visible increase in the number of unsheltered families with children. It began as a cold-weather shelter and in 2016 transitioned to a year-round organization which has helped countless families with children and single women who are experiencing homelessness. Our Steps to Independence program provides safe shelter, case management, and supportive services to help build life skills leading to self-sufficiency and independence. The shelter serves over 170 individuals a year and approximately 60% of that population are youth.
