North County Square Seeks Change on 6.3 Acres to Build Multi-Family Residential

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the City Council of the City of Vista, California, will hold a public meeting on April 26, 2022, at 5:30 PM, to discuss a proposal for a Specific Plan Amendment affecting 6.3 acres of land located at 1980 and 1990 University Drive (APNs 183-430-47 and -48). The proposal seeks to amend the North County Square Specific Plan, Planning Area 8, to change the permitted land use from retail commercial to multi-family residential, 40 dwelling units per acre, to develop 243 apartment units on the site in seven 4-story buildings.

This meeting is intended to provide preliminary input to the applicant related to a proposal to change the Specific Plan designations on this site. Should an application move forward, the City’s development review process requires the submittal of a formal planning application and additional public hearings at the Planning Commission and City Council for final consideration.
