North San Diego Young Marines Retirement Ceremony

On Sunday August 8, 2021 the Young Marines retired four of their own at the Vista Elks Lodge #1968. Their time in service and accomplishments vary but what they do have in common is a dedication to community service, honoring our Veterans, a commitment to drug demand reduction through peer education and leadership by example.

Honored guests for the ceremony were Vista Mayor Judy Ritter, Terry Woods- North County Daily Star, John Byrom- North Coastal Prevention Coalition, YM Division 6 Commander Leigh Dick, 2nd California Regiment Commander Marie Smith, Executive Officer Patricia Bocanegra, and YM 3rd Battalion Commander Mary Cardenas. They were also joined by family and friends and the food was provided by Ciao’s Restaurant.
Master of Ceremonies was 2nd California Regiment Commander Marie Smith.

Terry Woods has been a North County resident for over three decades. Community activist, Member Emeritus Vista Chamber of Commerce, Married to Kathy Woods for 48 years, three children, three grandchildren and six grand dogs.
