OCEANSIDE, CA — On Sunday, Aug. 2, 2026, at approximately 9:44 p.m., officers with the Oceanside Police Department responded to reports of a major injury traffic collision involving a vehicle and a pedestrian on eastbound Route 76, just east of Guajome Lake Road.
The preliminary investigation indicates an adult female pedestrian was in the middle of theroadway when she was struck by an unknown vehicle. The driver fled the scene and has not been identified.
The pedestrian sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene. Her identity is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
