Oceanside, Calif. — May 15, 2020: The Oceanside Morning Farmers Market will reopen next Thursday, May 21, in Downtown Oceanside. Operating as an essential service under the San Diego County public health order, the modified farmers market will safely provide our community access to fresh, healthy and affordable food while helping to support area farms.
Resuming its weekly hours of 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Thursdays, MainStreet Oceanside’s farmers market will now operate in three socially distanced sections from Ditmar Street to Tremont Street on Pier View Way, with two sections on the east side of North Coast Highway and one section on the west side of Coast Highway. In this new configuration, the market will provide an open-air, socially distanced and cart-free alternative to traditional grocery shopping.
Following local and state guidelines, the Oceanside Farmers Market will reopen as a no-touch market to ensure the safety and well-being of attendees and vendors. The market will consist of farmers and prepackaged food only. There will be less than 40 vendors set up, spaced at least 10 feet apart across the three sections to allow for the appropriate spacing required for social distancing. Market guests will be limited to 50 per section.
Hand-washing stations will be placed throughout the market. Vendors are also required to have hand-washing stations at their booths and to wear masks and gloves.
At the no-touch market, vendors will be handling your selected produce or products for you. On-site sampling will not be allowed. Social distancing will be enforced inside the market venue, and masks are required to enter the market.
The market is normally a social place. However, during these abnormal and uncertain times, we ask that you send only one person to shop and avoid bringing the whole family. To minimize the amount of people on-site, please shop and then head home as requested by the governor. No pets are allowed. Please bring your own bag.
