Oceanside Pedestrian Dies in Vehicle Collision

Oceanside, CA – On Wednesday May 27, at approximately 5:01 am, the Oceanside Police Department responded to a collision involving a vehicle and pedestrian at Oceanside Blvd and Arroyo Ave. Upon arrival, officers located an unresponsive male lying in the westbound lanes of Oceanside Blvd. just west of Arroyo Ave. Oceanside Paramedics arrived on scene and pronounced the 52-year-old male deceased on scene.

The investigation into the cause of this collision is still ongoing and at this time fault has not been determined. The driver of the vehicle stated he was traveling westbound on Oceanside Blvd. through the intersection and collided with the pedestrian in the roadway. It appears by physical evidence the pedestrian was close to if not in the crosswalk at the time of the collision. Following the collision, the driver remained on scene and was cooperative with police. Neither alcohol nor drugs were a factor in this collision on the part of the driver. The pedestrians name is being withheld at this time pending notification to the family.
