Oceanside Police Department Arrest Arson Suspect

Oceanside, CA — On January 29, 2025, at approximately 10:19 PM, officers from the Oceanside
Police Department and firefighters from the Oceanside, Vista, and Carlsbad Fire Departments responded to an emergency radio call regarding a building fire at the movie theater complex located at 401 Mission Ave. Upon arrival, units discovered a fire in a drainage pipe, with heavy smoke coming from the roof. Fire crews quickly extinguished the fire. It is estimated that the fire caused over $10,000 in damage to
the building. Oceanside Fire Department Arson Investigators, along with detectives from the Oceanside Police Department, launched an investigation and determined that the fire had been intentionally set. Surveillance footage of the area was obtained. On February 4, 2025, the suspect was identified from the video and arrested by the Oceanside Police Department. The suspect, Amber Iovino (41 years old), confessed to the crime and was booked into San Diego County Jail for violating PC 451(b) – Arson of
an Inhabited Structure.
