The Oceanside Police Department is partnering with the Oceanside Fire Department, Oceanside Police Officers Association and the San Diego Blood Bank in the first “Code 3 First Responders Blood Drive and Safety Fair”. This event promises to be fun for the entire family with Police and Fire Department demonstrations, as well as food, games and entertainment for all ages. The event will be held on Friday, June 29, 2018 from 9am until 6pm in the Kohl’s Parking Lot located at 3410 Marron Road, Oceanside, CA 92056.
The inspiration for this event developed when Officer Brad hunter, a 29 year veteran of the Oceanside Police Department, was intentionally hit by a driver last year while conducting a traffic stop on another vehicle.
He was seriously injured with a shattered lower leg, had extensive reconstructive surgery and was placed in a medically induced coma for 2 days due to a severe head injury. Today, Brad is in good health, and alongside his wife Vanessa, they both work to educate the community on the importance of public safety and the need for blood donations. Eligible blood donors are encouraged to schedule an appointment to give by visiting www.SanDiegoBloodBank.org/Donate or by calling 1-800-4-MY-SDBB (1-800-469-7322).
For anyone unable to attend the Code 3 First Responder Blood Drive and Safety Fair, you may still donate blood in the name of the event at any San Diego Blood Bank location during the month of July by mentioning “Code 3”. Our event will receive credit for your donation.
