On Monday, July 29, 2024, at approximately 1922 hours, officers from the Oceanside Police Department responded to a radio call of an assault with a deadly weapon in the 4100 block of Diamond Circle, in the Tri-City area of Oceanside. The residents were home when an unknown suspect entered their backyard armed with a rock and a stick, and entered a bedroom through an open slider door.

The suspect may have tried to enter at least one other home, by throwing a rock through a sliding glass window of that residence, causing the glass to shatter. It was not determined if the suspect did enter the residence and those residents were not home at the time. Prior to the forced entry, residents observed the suspect walking along the rear of their property lines from Olive Avenue. The stick in the suspect’s possession was found to be a 3-foot wooden stake.

The suspect’s identity will not be released because notifications are still being made.

This investigation is still ongoing. Anyone with information on this investigation is encouraged to call the Oceanside Police Department at (760) 435-4900.
