OCEANSIDE, CA — On September 25, 2025, at approximately 10:21 p.m., the Oceanside Police Department responded to a report of a pedestrian struck by a vehicle on eastbound Oceanside Boulevard, just west of El Camino Real. The Department’s Major Accident Investigation Team (MAIT) was activated and led the investigation. Through the use of city surveillance cameras and license plate reader technology, investigators identified the suspect vehicle as a 2020 Ford Ranger.
The registered owner, 65-year-old Yolanda Orozco of Oceanside, was contacted at her residence, where the vehicle was located with evidence consistent with the collision. Orozco admitted to being the sole driver of the car at the time of the crash and showed signs of
intoxication. She was arrested for felony hit-and-run, with additional DUI-related charges pending the outcome of the investigation.
The victim, an adult male, suffered fatal injuries. The identity of the victim has not yet been confirmed.
