The Oceanside Police Department is teaming up with Dick’s Sporting Goods of Oceanside and the Oceanside Unified School District to treat hard-working high school student-athletes nominated by their schools to receive a special day of shopping with officers. On Tuesday, November 22, 2022, from 8:00 am – 10:00 am students have been invited to Dick’s Sporting Goods in Oceanside to share breakfast, games, and a morning of shopping with their local police officers.
The teens nominated have touched school administrators to be considered for this program. These are students who are dedicated to their school work, good citizenship, and athletics. The support from this shopping day will help provide the equipment needed for them to continue to be successful. “We want to show our teens that we recognize their effort, the good choices they are making, and we support them,” Lieutenant Michael Kos shared. The Oceanside Police Department’s Random Acts of Kindness Project donated $150 to each student for shopping. Along with hosting the special morning, Dick’s Sporting Goods
generously donated a $150 gift card to each student to spend on anything in the store and has a few other special surprises in store.
