A “revisioning” of South Oceanside’s Buccaneer Park was begun last year with a pop-up informational booth at the park, and one at the Farmer’s market to collect community ideas. A Workshop was held in January at the Library, and another on May 3 in the City Council Chambers. Digital and paper surveys were also circulated. Through these efforts, new restroom and park concepts were developed.
Through community input, the “Buccaneer Theme” emerged as the preferred park concept. This concept includes new park restrooms, a Loma Alta Creek deck and boardwalk overlook, basketball and pickleball courts, exercise station, expanded playground, lawn picnic area, bike racks, new seating, and shade structure.
