OCEANSIDE, Calif. – The O’Side Turkey Trot, San Diego County’s largest Thanksgiving day running event, will be welcoming friends and family back to downtown Oceanside this year and inviting them to ‘move their feet before they eat®’ on Nov. 25. After moving to a virtual event during the pandemic, in-person participation will resume for the sixteenth annual edition of the race. Registration is now open for all distances.

“Turkey Trots are some of the most popular run/walk events in the entire country, and it makes sense to me” said Kathy Kinane, co-founder and race director of O’Side Turkey Trot. “Thanksgiving is all about family, and, when you put on a bib and step up to the starting line, you join a new family: one comprised of all of your fellow participants who will be beside you every step of the way, cheer you on, and share in the celebration at the finish line!”

Just like a Thanksgiving day spread, the O’Side Turkey Trot offers plenty of options to choose from. Race day features five unique events including a 5 mile, 5k, 1 mile, ⅕ mile, and a combo for daring runners who wish to tackle both the 5 mile and 5k course. For those who prefer to participate from afar, a virtual 5k event is also available. Participants can tackle these events on their own or as a member of a team. The top five largest teams with over 20 members will receive $100 gift certificates.

While the O’Side Turkey Trot draws participants from over 46 states and 460 cities, the race is dedicated to impacting its local community. Over the past 15 years, the event has raised more than $380,000 for Oceanside schools and non-profit organizations.

The O’Side Turkey Trot and its organizers have received national recognition for the event. Runner’s World Magazine and the Los Angeles Times both named the race one of the top Turkey Trots in the country.
