Eric Frandsen, the principal of Surfside Academy, has been honored as the 2026 Continuation/Educational Options Administrator of the Year by the Association of California School Administrators (ACSA) for San Diego and Imperial counties. This prestigious award recognizes his exceptional leadership, dedication to student success, and commitment to expanding opportunities for all learners.

Under Frandsen’s guidance, Oceanside’s alternative education programs have grown to better serve students through innovative scheduling, personalized learning plans, and comprehensive support services. He has championed initiatives that address academic, social-emotional, and career readiness needs, ensuring students receive the resources and guidance necessary to thrive. Last year Surfside was named Model Continuation High School by the California Department of Education.

Frandsen has also focused on strengthening teacher collaboration, enhancing instructional practices, and fostering a positive school climate. His student-centered approach and advocacy for equity have led to increased engagement and achievement across continuation and educational options programs.
