SAN DIEGO – March 29, 2022 – As the Russian invasion of Ukraine continues, Palomar Health is stepping up to help Ukraine healthcare workers struggling to administer medical aid to affected citizens. With the growing need for assistance, Palomar Health employees are offering support for the Ukrainian people by donating much-needed medical reinforcement.

The Palomar Health Foundation is committed to seeking philanthropic support for hospital technology and equipment, programs, services, community initiatives, outreach programs, health education and other needs identified by Palomar Health. Palomar Health’s Dr. Anatoly Bulkin is working with the US Embassy to identify which hospitals are operational and in urgent need of medical supplies and equipment.

Dr. Bulkin is working on assembling a team of Palomar Health workers to provide lifesaving medical humanitarian care once the US allows civilians to enter Ukraine. “I pray for the end of war and senseless destruction of human life,” says Dr. Bulkin. “Please help support the health of the people of Ukraine by contributing to our mission.”

While Palomar Health diligently serves high-quality care to patients while reimagining the entire patient experience, its mission goes beyond the San Diego County borders. After being named as one of Newsweek’s “Word’s Best Hospitals” for three consecutive years, the organization demonstrates their team of medical doctors and technicians are ready and willing to assist the community even outside of its building walls. Palomar Health’s ability to assist with the sudden need in Ukraine is enabled by its ongoing practices in community-led mission projects the foundation holds throughout the year.

“No one person can make a difference, it takes a village,” says Kristin Gaspar, President and CEO of Palomar Health Foundation. “Providing much-needed medical care and supplies is how we can stand together and save lives. The people of Ukraine are in urgent need of our help and we’re grateful to be able to help in any way we can.”

Currently, Palomar Health donates their expired and unused inventory to local nonprofit, SSUBI. SSUBI helps direct medical supplies and equipment to clinicians and hospitals in Uganda and various international medical missions; ensuring that supplies are not wasted and instead go to places and people where they are urgently needed.

“As a global organization, our care for the community extends around the world. Health crises know no borders and neither does our responsibility to provide support to those who are suffering. We are grateful to our Hospital Champions like Palomar Health,” said Laura Luxemburg Founder of SSUBI.

Those looking to contribute to Palomar Health and SSUBI’s mission in Ukraine can donate on Palomar’s website under “Medical Missions” from the drop down menu on the donation page. To learn more about Palomar Health, please visit PalomarHealth.org.
