Parent Association of North County San Diego Advocates for Students and Empowers Parents

San Diego, January, 2021 -The Parent Association of North County San Diego announced today it has launched its website and inaugural membership campaign. The organization provides resources and a platform for parents to effectively organize and influence school district policy and budget decisions for the benefit of students. Ginny Merrifield, Executive Director, explained, “The Parent Association is committed to being a force for good in public schools. Parents are the best advocates for their students, and together we can help ensure our public schools prioritize the needs of students first.”

Parents in five school districts in North County collaborated to form the organization: Carlsbad USD, San Dieguito UHSD, San Marcos USD, Oceanside USD and Vista USD. The current health crisis has demonstrated how politics and special interests take precedence over the needs of children. Gina Fierro, Co-Director of the Parent Association of Vista USD, stated, “We believe in public education. We care about teachers, and we want to partner with our school administrators and Trustees. It is imperative, however, that the needs of students come first in every school district policy and budget decision. We are the champion for students’ interests on this issue and will continue to advocate for students’ interests on all issues going forward.” Parents and community members can learn more at www.parentassociation.org.
