Phase II: Construction Completed
The second phase of the Paseo Santa Fe improvements from Oceanview Drive to Terrace Drive was substantially completed on May 8. The new roundabout at Guajome Street and Terrace Drive is open to traffic and an art sculpture will be placed in the center this summer. Final road paving and street amenities will be installed during Phase III.
Phase III: Construction Begins

This week, the project moved into the third and final phase of street improvements and extends from Terrace Drive to Civic Center Drive. During construction, a roundabout will be installed at Pala Vista Drive. The duration of the project will be shorter than the previous phases, as the overhead utility lines were placed underground during Phase II. The construction is expected to be completed in winter 2020/21.
•Southbound traffic on S. Santa Fe Avenue has been rerouted to the new portion of the roadway between Broadway and Guajome Street.
•Vehicle traffic not accessing businesses south of Guajome are being directed to a new detour which travels through the area to Mercantile.
•This traffic route will remain in effect through the end of the project.
•Businesses will remain open and entry access will be maintained.
•Every effort will be made to minimize the traffic impacts associated with construction.
