Escondido, CA The Education department at the California Center for the Arts, Escondido hosts their first Center Stage: Performances for Youth show for the 2019-2020 school year with John & Juan: History of the Golden State which will be at the Center on Wednesday, November 20, 2019 at 9:30am and 11:30am in our Center Theater.
John, a native Californian, and Juan, a Mexican immigrant, discover their common heritage in this lively theatrical romp through 500 years of California history.
John learns from Juan about the state’s Hispanic heritage, including early Spanish explorers, the original settlers of El Pueblo de Los Angeles, Father Junipero Serra, the Chumash Indians,and the missions along El Camino Real and John shares with Juan the excitement of the Gold Rush.

this performance series spans a variety of curriculum subjects including history, science, literature, music, dance, and world culture.

Each performance is accompanied by a study guide and genre-specific activities that connect to both Common Core English Language Arts Standards and California State Curriculum Standards.
