The Public Safety Day event was held today in celebration of Red Ribbon Week at Bobier Elementary School in Vista for over 500 students from Kindergarten through 5th grade. District Attorney Summer Stephan talked to the students about internet safety, kindness, and bullying. Vista Deputy Mayor Joe Green gave a proclamation about Red Ribbon week which promotes drug awareness and prevention among the youth of the City of Vista. Vista Superintendent Dr. Matt Doyle and Vista School Board Trustee Cipriano Vargas also addressed the students regarding Red Ribbon week. Sergeant Gathings and Vista Firefighter Bermudez addressed the students and spoke about public safety issues. The students then had a chance to go through three stations to meet and interact with the Public Safety Partners.
The students met Christine (Court Dog Handler) and Truman (Court Therapy Dog). Truman was a big hit with the students as they got to pet him and learn about Truman’s expertise as a Court Therapy Dog. The Fire Engine and 5 firefighters also gave a wonderful and interactive presentation to the students focused on fire safety.
