Famous Dave’s Barbeque Building Leveled

At Tuesdays City council meeting the City staff presented to the members plans to build a new restaurant called Raising Cane’s Chicken Fingers. The Famous Dave’s building will be leveled and the new 3,935 square foot drive-through restaurant will be built to include a parking lot and site improvements at 303 Vista Village Drive.
A presentation was given by the Vista city staff member, Michael Ressling, followed by Raising Cane’s representative, Kristen Roberts, Property Development Manager, Fry Cook and Cashier. Public input was positive except for concern of tearing down a beautiful building and the changing of the general plan to include another drive-through restaurant.Questions were asked which were answered by staff or Raising Cane’s Kristen Roberts. The Councilmembers asked Raising Cane’s if they could make upgrades to the exterior of their new restaurant/building. As the restaurant is located at the entrance of Vista Village, it is important to them that the building exterior is meeting their standards and is attractive and welcoming to all who enter the Village. Raising Cane’s agreed to work with the City Staff to satisfy these desires. A vote was taken and the voting results were 4 to 1. Councilmember Amanda Rigby voted against. Famous Dave’s building will be leveled this December and conctruction will begin and opening in 155 days.

Kristen Roberts said “Raising Cane’s is very excited to be a part of the Vista community! We will continue to work with city staff to ensure a more enhanced exterior and are continuing to move forward with plans for construction of our new site in city of Vista. With the continued support of Plan Commission, City Council, city staff and the amazing and involved Vista community, we look forward to all our new Vista Caniacs!”
