On behalf of the RBV Boys Basketball Program, Coach Aaron Abrams, our assistant principal Dan Smuts, and ASRA (Adaptive Sports and Recreation Association), I would like to invite you to come to our 2nd Annual Wheelchair Basketball game. We take seriously developing players into men who think beyond themselves and look to support others in the community. This event is just one of the ways we look to help develop character off the court.
This event featuring the San Diego Hammer and the NMCSD Wolfpack will be on Tuesday, March 19th with a 7:00 tip-off at the Stampede Arena. Admission is $5 and all proceeds will benefit the ASRA Basketball Program, specifically the Hammer. Additionally, the Ameritino Foundation will once again match the gate funds for the event. Last year, this led to two other large donations by audience members who were inspired by the event. The night will feature an exhibition game, a mixed team game with some RBV boys varsity players, along with a three point shootout and dribbling exhibition at halftime.
Please feel free to watch this 4 minute video about ASRA (featuring Danny Smuts, our assistant principal Dan Smuts, and the Smuts family) and the impact the association has on athletes. You will see very quickly how this is a worthy group to support any way the community can.
You can also look at this 8 minute documentary on the Smuts family and how they have adapted to such a life changing event. They are remarkable people.
