Escondido, CA – Escondido Public Library’s 2019 Summer Reading Challenge invites children, teens, and adults to “Read, Act, Play.” The Challenge encourages reading for fun and life-long learning for all ages and runs from June 8, 2019 to July 27, 2019.
Educational, recreational, and cultural events are offered throughout the Challenge. Anyone can take part in the program from home, on a mobile device, or by using Library computers. Participants of all ages log reading and event participation online at http://www.escondidolibrary.org/summerto earn prizes donated by the Friends of the Library and local businesses.
Summer Reading Challenge festivities kick off-on Saturday, June 8, 2019 from 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on the Library’s front patio. Sign-up for the Challenge and receive free samples from Baltimore Snowball.
Summer Reading Challenge programs for children, babies, and families include special storytimes; Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics (STEAM)-themed craft events; a visit from reptiles, and Rick Huddles’ Scary Squirrel’s Retro Reboot Dance Party.
Teen events include a chance to explore table top and virtual reality games, attend art-based events such as Crescent Moon Henna, and Ink Floating Art, and attend Cosplay 101, where you can learn all about costume design and creation! Adult programs include concerts, book discussions, a career fair, and a special open mic event for local writers!
