Ready-Set-Go Best Pizza & Brew Opens Next Week in Vista

By TR Robertson
Owners Joey Freis and Mitchell Millar, of Best Pizza & Brew Restaurant, are wrapping up all the final touches on Vista’s newest restaurant set to open next week. The fifth and largest of the Best Pizza & Brew restaurants is located in the former Town Hall Public House which was the former Flying Pig at 230 S. Santa Fe. Ave, along the Paseo Santa Fe corridor. The San Diego based chain specializes in New York style pizza and a plethora of other items on the menu. The 3,600 sq. ft. facility will seat approximately 175 patrons and has an outdoor area for more customers. There is also a private room that can hold 10-12 people for private gatherings. Customers can choose from numerous table and booth areas as well as an individual seating bar area with over 30 craft beers on tap. Owner Joey Freis said they plan on adding numerous tastings from Vista’s craft beer industry.

Joey said, “Best Pizza & Brew will offer quick service with numerous and diverse selections at affordable prices”.

The restaurant will also offer wine selections and a full bar. They make all their dressings in house for their salads. We make our our croutons, fresh dough made daily and get the highest quality ingredients. The business has experienced a 6-week delay in opening primarily due to COVID restrictions slowing down the shipment of needed items for the restaurant, like the material for the seats in the booths. They are still missing some of their outdoor chairs, held up somewhere in overseas shipping.

Best Pizza & Brew plans on being an active member in the community, already joining the Vista Chamber of Commerce. They will offer numerous fundraisers and have a Vista Boys & Girls Club fundraiser planned for the near future. The huge parking lot will be used for possible outdoor activities and events. Live music is a possibility for the restaurant.

The large menu is very visible for those that enter the front doors and have selections including appetizers like Marinara and Meatballs, Calamari and Mac & Cheese, made with Tillamook cheddar and Gruyere cheeses with parmesan. Five delicious salads are available from the traditional Caesar or Best House salads to one like the Burrata Caprese, which includes Heirloom tomatoes, burrata cheese, arugula, basil, pesto, and olive oil with a balsamic reduction. For those not in the pizza mood, 5 sandwich choices are available from a Torpedo to Meatball Sub to a Best Cheeseburger.

Pizza is available by the slice including cheese or specialty pizza. For those wanting a full 12″ or 18″ pie, there are 14 choices. Traditional cheese or pepperoni are offered all the way to pies like Pesto Goat Cheese to Buffalo Chicken to Meat Lovers to Honey Basil to Hawaiian to The Works. The Works comes with pepperoni, sausage, mushrooms, bell peppers, onions, black olives, and mozzarella. The Pepperoni Pesto Ricotta is also an interesting sounding pizza.

Daily specials are offered that range from 1 slice and a salad for $8.75 to 2 slices and a soda for $8.75 to 2 slices and a pint for $12.75 to 1 slice and a t-shirt or hat for $8.00. Wings are available on Monday for .75 cents each and Wednesday is $4.00 pint night. A wide range of desserts are available including Tiramisu, Chocolate Chip Ice Cream Sandwiches, Chocolate Mousse, Root Beer Floats, Lemon Ricotta Cheesecake and more. Fountain sodas get free refills and specialty sodas are offered as well.

Best Pizza & Brew also has catering available and can provide options for large parties in-house. As you can tell, this will be a definite happening place for family and group gatherings. The specific date next week for Best Pizza & Brew opening will appear in Monday or Tuesdays North County Daily Star.
