200 art students from Mission Vista and Oceanside High Schools are painting mini-masterpieces to be donated to the Assistance League of North Coast, a 501(c3). A reception honoring the teen artists will be held
on April 5 from 4:30-6:30 pm at 1816 Oceanside Blvd, #F, Oceanside. Over $500 in gift certificates, donated by local merchants, will be awarded to10 lucky teen artists during the reception. The small canvases will be sold during the Tropical Bliss fundraiser to be held at the Oceanside Museum of Art on April 15, from 6-8 PM. Funds raised during this event support the 17 philanthropic programs that benefit very low income students in Carlsbad, Oceanside and Vista. Last year the Assistance League of North Coast donated over $60,890 as scholarships to local high school students. More than $60,000 was used to purchase shoes, socks and health kits for 2,660 elementary age students. $45,000 was donated to schools for books for students and to replenish the libraries.
