On Tuesday, November 15 around 2:45 p.m., Christopher Russell (DOB: 01/26/1999) used a chair to break the front window of a home in the 300 block of N. Melrose Drive in the City of Vista. A neighbor watched Russell enter through the window and immediately called the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department.

Deputies from the Vista Sheriff’s Station, along with a Sheriff’s K-9, arrived on-scene and surrounded the home. Once Russell discovered deputies were outside, he surrendered peacefully. After Russell was placed under arrest, the victim returned home. The victim discovered several rooms had been gone through and his belongings were strewn about.

Because of the quick action taken by the neighbor and deputies, no items were stolen from the home and only the window was damaged. Russell was arrested for residential burglary and booked into the Vista Detention Facility.
