Results Sobriety/Driver’s License Checkpoint – San Marcos

Deputies of the San Marcos Sheriff’s Station conducted a driving under the influence and driver’s license checkpoint on
August 14, 2020 in the 800 block of W. San Marcos Boulevard, in the city of San Marcos.
Results of the DUI Checkpoint:
Total Cars through the Checkpoint: 1958
Total Cars into the Checkpoint: 705
Cars Sent to Secondary for Evaluation: 39
D.U.I Evaluations: 2
D.U.I Alcohol Arrests: 0
D.U.I Drug Arrests: 1
Other Arrest : 0
In addition, there were 4 vehicles impounded for being an unlicensed driver and driving with a suspended California
Driver’s License. There were 27 citations issued for being an unlicensed driver, not having a driver’s license in
possession, driving with a suspended driver’s license and a registered owner allowing an unlicensed driver to drive their
vehicle.
Funding for this checkpoint is provided to the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department by a grant from the California
Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
