Build NCC
Highway, rail, environmental, and coastal access improvement projects are underway in the cities of Solana Beach, Encinitas, and Carlsbad as part of Build NCC, the first package of projects being constructed through the 40-year North Coast Corridor (NCC) Program.
Build NCC includes rail double tracking, extended carpool lanes, new bike and pedestrian trails, and the restoration of the San Elijo Lagoon. These highway, rail, and lagoon improvements are being constructed simultaneously to minimize impacts to the lagoon and neighboring communities. .

SANDAG and iCommute are partnering with Waze Carpool to offer $2 rides from June 1-August 1!
The Caltrans and SANDAG Build NCC team and SANDAG iCommute have partnered with Waze Carpool to help you make the most of your commute this summer during Interstate 5 construction along the North Coast Corridor. Between June 1 and August 1, 2019, Waze Carpool is offering $2 flat rate rides for carpoolers traveling to or from one of these areas. Drivers will be compensated up to $15 per ride, and passengers only pay $2.

2) Create an account and enter your commute information to find carpool matches (if traveling to or from a qualified area, the $2 flat rate will automatically apply)
3) Decide if you want to drive (get paid) or ride (pay $2), and enjoy the ride!
A Trio of Projects Completed!
On May 9, SANDAG and Caltrans celebrated the completion of three quality of life Build NCC projects in the City of Encinitas. The completed projects include the San Elijo Lagoon Double Track, Encinitas Coastal Rail Trail, and the Chesterfield Drive Improvements. These important projects will help improve regional connectivity, enhance mobility, maintain coastal access, and increase safety in the Cardiff-by-the-Sea community.
