Oceanside, Calif., December 27, 2024 – The San Diego Clippers (1-0) defeat the Memphis Hustle (0-1), 124-117.
A high-scoring first quarter ended with the Clippers taking an 11-point lead, fueled by the Clippers’ 14-5 run to end the quarter. Elijah Harkless led all scorers with 11 points and made three of four three-point attempts in the half. The Hustle responded to start the second quarter with a 7-0 run, cutting the Clippers’ lead to four points. At halftime, the Clippers held a three-point lead after forcing 12 turnovers. Harkless led all scorers with 18 points, followed by Tosan Evbuomwan with 14 points. The Clippers responded in the third quarter, outscoring the Hustle 23-9 midway through to extend their lead to 17 points. The Hustle came back early in the fourth as the Clippers’ 16-point lead was cut down to single digits. Clutch free throws in the final minute by Elijah Harkless gave the Clippers the victory, 124-117.
The San Diego Clippers were led by Elijah Harkless, who set a new career high with 31 points and made 5 of 10 from three-point range. Tosan Evbuomwan followed with 24 points and eight rebounds. Braxton Key recorded his first double-double of the regular season with 13 points and 12 rebounds. Trentyn Flowers added 17 points and seven rebounds off the bench. The Clippers forced 27 turnovers, with every starter recording at least two steals, and dominated the paint, outscoring Memphis 74-52. The Clippers pushed the pace recording 32 fast break points.
The Memphis Hustle were led by Colin Castleton with 24 points and 14 rebounds. Yuki Kawamura followed with 23 points and shot 7-of-12 from three-point range.
