San Diego Startup Week begins on Tuesday, Oct. 25, and the first day of the 10th annual conference for local entrepreneurs will be held in Carlsbad. The event brings together startup leaders, tech talent and the investors across greater San Diego.
Carlsbad is a hot spot for startups, along with businesses in all stages of growth. These companies provide multiple benefits for our community, including driving innovation, creating local jobs and generating revenue that flows into the community. In 2021, local companies drew $1 billion in venture funding to Carlsbad.
“The City of Carlsbad is proud to host the opening day of San Diego Startup Week,” said Matt Sanford, City of Carlsbad Economic Development Manager. “Our entrepreneurial ecosystem in Carlsbad and across North County is vibrant, with hundreds of companies calling us home. Startups invest in our communities, hire talent, innovate new technologies and grow our economy. We are glad to support their growth in Carlsbad.”
Day one of San Diego Startup Week will focus on the topics of founders and people. The event will be hosted by Fabric Investments at 2676 State Street, the future home of Tyra Biosciences in Carlsbad Village. The conference aims to educate attendees about the practical requirements to become successful innovators. The event is expected to attract hundreds of San Diego-area businesspeople, developers, designers, strategic advisors, community leaders, community supporters, students and job seekers.
Carlsbad’s thriving startup culture and business community
The City of Carlsbad is committed to ensuring our business community, including startups, has the appropriate tools and resources to grow and expand. In fact, Carlsbad’s economy grew by $1 billion in 2021 to $14.6 billion, second only in the region to the City of San Diego, according to a report presented to the City Council earlier this year.
