SAN DIEGO — The region’s transportation agency is moving forward with plans to connect downtown San Diego to San Diego International Airport.
The San Diego Association of Governments Transportation Committee voted 6-2 on Friday to dual-track a Request for Proposal (RFP) and Request for Information (RFI) to solicit a possible people mover or trolley connection. Known as the Airport Transit Connection (ATC) project, Marisa Mangan, principal regional planner and project manager, said SANDAG has a three-tiered implementation roadmap as a way to integrate the ATC into the region’s broader transit network.
The project cost is estimated between $1.5 billion and $3.1 billion, depending on the concept.
