OCEANSIDE — The San Diego Association of Governments was awarded $124.4 million by the Federal Railroad Administration for a double-tracking project in Oceanside.

The project is another large-scale effort to double-track the entire 60-mile San Diego County segment of the LOSSAN (Los Angeles-San Diego-San Luis Obispo) corridor. Known as the Eastbrook to Shell Double Track Project, it will remove a long-standing single-track bottleneck north of the Oceanside Transit Center.

In Oceanside, though, SANDAG will construct one mile of second mainline track between Harbor Drive and Pier View Way, along with replacing the San Luis Rey River rail bridge.
