Vista Unified School Board of Trustees meeting was held tonight to primarily discuss opening of the schools and how it will be accomplished in this Covid-19 environment. It was a very long meeting in every aspect on how to accomplish the best plan for the students, teachers, staff and parents.
The trustees voted to survey parents again. They felt that due to rising reported Covid-19 numbers, parents may want to switch what they said on their previous survey. They are going to give parents the option of Classic or Virtual but they don’t really know if they will even be allowed to do Classic. This will allow the district to continue to plan for both options. Parents who do not respond to the survey, will default to Virtual. They discussed the possibility of starting school after Labor Day to give everybody more time to prepare.
While the Hybrid model would maximize staff capacity, the option was eliminated because it would not allow daily interaction with teachers and students. They want a plan that would allow and require daily teacher/student interaction, a much more robust Virtual model than what was used at the end of this school year.
Vista Unified School Board of Trustees meeting will be held on July 23, 2020 at 5:00 pm.
