SDNEDC investor Scripps Health announced Monday that it will build a state-of-the-art medical center in San Marcos. It started in 1990 when Scripps purchased an 80-acre parcel in San Marcos, and H.G. Fenton was pivotal in planning how to best utilize the land, reserving 13 acres to develop a new medical center. The campus will start with an ambulatory care facility, followed by a 200- to 250-bed hospital. Scripps has long served local patients, and this investment strengthens San Marcos’ growing reputation as a healthcare hub and reinforces North County’s need for major healthcare development.
