On Thursday, October 14, 2021, around 11:45 a.m., detectives from the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department’s Marijuana Enforcement Team (MET), with assistance from the Sheriff’s Lakeside Station Crime Suppression Team, the Rancho San Diego Station Crime Suppression Team, the Criminal Intelligence Unit, and the Sheriff’s Special Enforcement Detail, served a search warrant at an illegal marijuana dispensary located at 905 Grand Avenue in Spring Valley.

The warrant was part of an ongoing investigation by the Sheriff’s Department of illegally operating cannabis facilities in San Diego County. Detectives seized the following during the search:

Approximately $4,127 in U.S. Currency
13.5 pounds of processed marijuana
21.5 pounds of Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) infused edibles
9.5 pounds of THC vape products
6 pounds of concentrated marijuana
3 pounds of CBD products

Investigators discovered several THC infused edibles which falsely appeared to be name brand candies. These products sold by unlicensed and unregulated cannabis dispensaries are often packaged and marketed to appeal to children. THC infused food products closely resembling well-known name brands may be inadvertently consumed, creating potential health and safety risks.

Sheriff’s Detectives were accompanied by personnel from San Diego County’s Code Compliance, who noted several violations in the building creating a danger to its occupants. County Code Compliance requested San Diego Gas and Electric to cut off power to the dispensary until the dangers could be mitigated.

This warrant follows community concerns about illegal marijuana dispensaries operating near schools and residential areas. We want to assure those we serve the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department is listening to the community and recognizes the negative impact illegal marijuana dispensaries have on our neighborhoods.

Felony charges will be filed with the San Diego County District Attorney’s Office against a man and a woman who were arrested at the illegal dispensary.
