Second Lawsuit Targets United Airlines Lease at Palomar Airport

CARLSBAD — Citizens for a Friendly Airport has filed a second lawsuit against San Diego County challenging the lease agreement with United Airlines for commercial flights at McClellan-Palomar Airport.

The legal fight underscores a years-long dispute over whether commercial service at the Carlsbad airport violates environmental law and the conditional use permit with the city of Carlsbad.

The county owns the airport, and the Board of Supervisors approved a three-year lease with two one-year options on Dec. 10. Passengers will board an Embraer E-175 configured for 70 passengers.

United is scheduled to begin service on March 30 with four daily flight…..
