On Tuesday morning at about 3:30am, Sheriff’s Deputies and the Vista Fire Department responded to a traffic collision involving a Toyota Prius vs a male pedestrian at the intersection of East California and North Santa Fe Avenue in the city of Vista.
According to the preliminary investigation, the Prius was traveling on East California through the intersection of North Santa Fe on a green light when it struck a male pedestrian on a motorized scooter in the middle of the intersection. The male was transported to Palomar Hospital by paramedics with serious injuries. The driver did not suffer any injuries.
The driver remained at the scene and is cooperating with the investigation. At this time, it is believed neither alcohol nor drugs were a factor in the collision.
The Vista Traffic Division is handling the investigation.
