Sexual Assault Suspect Arrested in Carlsbad

CARLSBAD, Calif. – On February 5, at 5:34 a.m., Sexual Assault Suspect Arrested located and subsequently arrested 25-year-old Austin Miller, an unsheltered individual in North County, for elder abuse, burglary, attempted rape, sexual battery and false imprisonment. Miller was located in the 900 block of Carlsbad Village Drive.
On February 4, at 6:24 a.m., officers were called to an assisted living facility located in the 1000 block of Laguna Drive for a report of a sexual assault.
Staff from the facility reported a white male adult entered the building, then entered the room of a 70-year-old female victim.
Once inside the room, the suspect sexually assaulted the victim.
A staff member confronted the suspect and the suspect fled the building.
Officers arrived in minutes and began to search for the suspect.
The officers used a tracking K9 and the Sheriff’s Department helicopter ASTREA to assist with the search.
Continuing the search, officers located Miller this morning at the Carlsbad Village Drive location.
Miller will be booked into the Vista Detention facility.
The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
